Results of song analyses and playback experiments from “Symmetrical discrimination despite weak song differentiation in two Suboscine sister species”

Spreadsheet in .xlsx format containing two tabs. One tab shows results of the analyses conducted in Raven Pro 1.4 comparing male songs of the Squamate Antbird (Myrmoderus squamosus) and the White-bibbed Antbird (Myrmoderus loricatus). Frequency variables are expressed in Hertz (Hz) and temporal variables are expressed in seconds. The second tab shows the results of playback experiments testing specific recognition between males of these species. We tested 30 males per species; 10 males in each of three treatments: conspecific song (Squamate Antbird male songs to Squamate Antbird males and White-bibbed Antbird male songs to White-bibbed Antbird males), heterospecific song (Squamate Antbird male songs to White-bibbed Antbird males and White-bibbed Antbird male songs to Squamate Antbird males) and control songs (Star-throated Antwren male songs).
